Ages 7 – 14 Your child can take their youth baseball game to the next level this summer in a FUN and supportive environment giving the player the full experience of being a Viera Hawk! The camp will focus on the same fundamental skills and mechanics in regard to hitting, pitching, and defensive skills that help prepare the Hawks for one of the toughest schedules in high school baseball.
Players are separated by age and ability level to ensure that everyone is safe, having fun, and improving their skillset
Each player will receive daily individual and group skills instruction on throwing and catching, ground ball technique, pitching, outfield, catching and middle infield stations, as well as batting lectures and drills and proper base running and sliding techniques. During each day’s snack break, a special event period will take place where campers can compete for baseball-related prizes.

Matt Gifford is the current Head Coach of the Viera High School Hawks baseball program. Gifford has coached at the collegiate and varsity high school levels around the country before returning to Brevard County.
Coach Gifford grew up in Brevard County and played baseball at Melbourne Central Catholic HS.
He went on to have a successful college career at St. Leo University where he was an All-American in 1996 and 1997, named All Conference in 96,97 & 98’. He was inducted into the St. Leo University Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 and then into Sunshine State Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in 2007. After college he played professionally, briefly for the Johnstown Johnnies.
At Viera, the staff is committed to the players’ education on and off the field, their character development, and preparing them for a baseball career extending beyond high school. The five pillars of the program are: “leadership, hustle, respect, intensity, and discipline.”
Matt Meyer is the current assistant/pitching coach at the Viera High School Hawks baseball prgoram. He grew up in Palm Bay, FL, where he attended and played at Bayside High School.
After a successful high school career, he went on to pitch at Campbell University,
Eastern Florida State College, and Jacksonville University.
Coach Meyer would later play professional baseball for the Florida Complex League Tigers,
Sussex County Miners,
York Revolution, and the Empire State Greys.

Coach Gifford offers private hitting lessons to players (ages 10-14) looking to improve their skill set. New to lessons? Schedule your free 30-minute skills assessment. Your skills assessment overview includes 15 minutes of 1:1 drill work, 10 minutes of sit-down feedback, and 5 minutes of questions and answers.
Parents are strongly encouraged to be present during this time.
